Sensory play
We explore various aspects of sight, sound, touch and smell. We have texture books, disco lights and treasure baskets etc. We also have a tuffs tray which is regularly filled with different sensory materials such as shaving foam, jelly, rice pudding, custard and gloop.
Physical Play
Crawling, running, jumping, balancing and having fun is how children learn about their bodies and its limitations. We provide lots of opportunities for children to explore their natural, biological drive to be creative with movement.
Song/Music Time
Becoming more vocal promotes self-esteem and a sense of individualism. Our voice can project our mood or be used to enhance stories and make them come alive. Engaging in song and music time slows down our speech to make it more audible, allowing natural intonations to become clearer and patterns easier to distinguish. At Bright Stars, we regularly play nursery rhymes, Disney songs and classical music throughout the day. During different topics such as Chinese New Year we often play culturally appropriate music.
Outdoor Provision
We enjoy spending time outdoors as much as possible and will have at least one outing daily. We enjoy spending time in all weather and use this as a learning tool to explore the natural effects wind, rain and sun have on the environment.
Some of our regular outings include;
• Parks

• Farms
• Playgroups
• Cinemas
• Woodland areas
• Supermarkets
