Bright Stars Childcare is located in our family home, situated in Tranmere just off Old Chester Road. Here we have two large playrooms, a large dining room and a fully decked rear patio, boasting a five foot fully enclosed trampoline, lots of ride on’s and a large variety of outdoor toys.
Bathroom
Here is our bathroom, it is a large size and is fully tiled for easy cleaning. We encourage our children to keep up a high standard of personal hygiene, by displaying various posters such as hand washing and proper bathroom etiquette. We do not use hand towels in our bathroom, instead we have opted for soft paper towels. Research shows this is scientifically the most hygienic way to dry your hands and prevent the spread of germs. Paper towels are disposed of in a plastic dustbin that is cleaned daily. Our liquid hand wash is a hypoallergenic, antibacterial, child friendly solution perfect for keeping little hands clean and soft. All toiletries and soaps are kept out of reach of children in a mirrored wall cabinet.
Hallway
Downstairs in our hallway, we have created our own calendar which allows children to change the date and the weather each day. This helps them learn numbers, days of the week and months of the year. We also have a television attached to the wall. This acts as an electronic photo frame. Here we display photographs of the Children at our setting. This enhances children’s sense of belonging, shares the kinds of activities available throughout the year, sparks ideas for new activities and provides reminiscence of good times we have shared together. Parents are also able to see these photographs when dropping off/collecting their children. Underneath, we have a display which shows us when each child’s birthday is. If a child attends on their birthday, we throw them a party and bake a birthday cake.
Main Playroom
This is our main playroom. In this spacious room there is lots to keep our children stimulated.
As this room has a thick soft carpet which is great for group play, no shoes are worn in here.
This room contains a large wall secured toy unit boasting a huge selection of natural resources, construction items (megablocks, duplo, brio train tracks, stickle bricks), small world playsets, themed resources and educational topic boxes for our children. Our fitted alcove shelving contains additional resources such as jigsaw puzzles, cars and trucks and board games for times when we need to relax after a busy day at school or fun day out.
We change our role play area regularly based on cultural events such as Halloween and Christmas or the children’s interests. So far, it has been a; supermarket, Chinese restaurant for Chinese New Year, Christmas post office, potion workshop, supermarket and Halloween costume shop to name but a few.
On one side of our window we have our WOW wall and on the other we have our Friends and Family display.
On the other side of the room we have our Busy Fingers Board. This is a board we have created ourselves, containing everyday objects that provide children with a range of fine motor experiences. Some of the objects we have used include a; light switch, bike bell, door knocker, mirror, hook and eye, computer keyboard, remote control, zips and varied materials to touch including fur and sand paper. This is loved by children of all ages.
Dining Room
This is our dining and creativity room where we enjoy our home cooked meals, dressing up and arts and crafts. On one side of our dining table we have a bookshelf with lots of reading, colouring, activity and sticker books and an aquarium. On the other side, we have a fancy dress and role play area with a large number of dressing up costumes and a tall acrylic mirror so children can check out their new look. This is also where all our arts, crafts and messy play materials are stored. We have a variety of drawing materials which are always available to the children so they can draw and colour whenever they feel like some calm, creative time. All our children enjoy setting their place at the table, as all our cutlery and cups are accessible. The kitchen is secured off from the open plan dining room at all times.
Sleep Room
Outdoor Play
